LAB 5: Navigating the vSphere Clients

After installing and configuring vCenter Server, the next step is to familiarize ourselves with the vSphere Clients. The main objective of this lab s to give is a chance to navigate both vSphere client and vSpere web client.

Task 1: Navigate vSphere Web Client

To complete this task, we have to navigate the vSphere Web Client, which is usually used for managing the vCenter inventory. Besides that we can also monitor the inventory which is quite handy when compared to vSphere Client. Now because we need to have the latest version of Adobe Flash in order to access it and login to it, I was unable to do that because the browsers are no longer supporting the latest versions of Adobe Flash . Thus, I am unable to complete this task. But even if vSphere Web Client is not available for now, we could still use vSphere Client.

Task 2: Navigate vSphere Client

vSphere Client is a tool created by the VMware and they don’t rely on 3rd party plugins or tools to function. For this task there are 3 main things that needs to be done. They are, writing down the the NICs, hypervisor and logical processors of an ESXi machine, getting the summary of both configuration and hardware panes and the last one is to get the summary of the the datastore which in this case is datastore1.

The summary of datastore1 is as follow:

After selecting a ESXi machine, a going to the summary section, the following things has been found:

  • Hypervisor: VMware ESXi, 6.5.0
  • Logical Processor: 4
  • NICs: 2

In regards to hardware and configuration panes, I am a bit confused which one to show. So I will leave it as it is. And if you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments. Thank you
